“The world is almost peaceful when you stop trying to understand it.”

"My coach said I ran like a girl. I told him if he ran a little faster he could, too."

The pick gently plucks the worn strings

Sending wafts of the melody out the open window

It mingles with the collage of summer activities

Dances alongside a tasty aroma of barbeque

Harmonizes with children’s laughs and squeals

Alights alongside morning dew on the grass

Gasps with midday runners

Blooms among fields of buttercups

Explores alongside baby animals who see only purity

Waves with reuniting friends

Splashes alongside crowds into a chlorinated pool

Tears up over spilled ice cream

Echos in the neglected hallways of schools

And then weaves its way through lives and stories

Back through the window it escaped from

And right into the musician’s ear
