A Valentines Day Tradition
Couples plant seeds
And blossom treats grow plump and sweet.
We discard February glooms,
For gifted luxury perfume.
Frigid snowfalls can
Melt with one phone call.
Valentines tends to be bittersweet,
An annual event that just repeats.
Though I may be a loner
it doesn’t mean I have to be a groaner.
Over time,
I’ll find I’d rather be kind.
For I am only fourteen,
I don’t need to act like I’m unseen.

I wrote this the day before Valentine's day. Every year I feel envious of those who spend Valentines day with someone else. Though, that day I realized something. The people who complain about couples on Valentines day are the same people who make this day non-enjoyable. The comments about couples who are just spending time together is unnecessary, I need to be happy for others! So, I wrote a little poem about it.
