Doubting Dreams of Design
Who
should
I
be?
I dream of dresses
Of drawing halter and lace up backs
A-line and body-con
Beads and embroidery
Sweetheart necklines and trains
Empire waistlines and high slits
I dream of bridges
Of drawing beams and arches
Flyovers and double deckers
Cantilever and cable-stayed
Suspension and truss
Tied-arch and bascule
Of a rainbow in my collection
Ivory and baby pink
Violet and sage
Mint and royal blue
Teal and burgundy
Of a multitude of materials
Iron and aluminum
Rubber and timber
Stone and concrete
Steel and asphalt
Of young women rushing to the door
To buy the perfect dress
And look stylish
Of travelers rushing to pass
Get to their destination on time
And arrive safely
But who?
The dress designer?
The civil engineer?
How to pick?
To be creative?
To be innovative?
How to meld the designs together?
Diver ging identities
Each a galaxy apart from the other
I dream of an amalgamation
Diver - ging identities
Each a world apart from the other
Build a dress?
Build a bridge?
How to bridge the gap?
I KNOW
A textile engineer!
To create:
Pantyhose never running
Cotton never fading
Dyes never leaking
Polyester never wrinkling
I just need to remember:
To never stop dreaming
