Perched on a hill,

Is a clementine tree

All alone with nothing to eat

Apart from water the skies free.

Sitting in solidarity,

The sun hits to bring lucent rays

And the breezes sweep through leaves and gaps

Creating harmonious tunes

Humming along with the birds and bees.

Buzzing flies wait upon its peels

The fruit begins to rot by the new season

Becoming heavy.

They sag from the trees’ limbs

Branches sway and one might drop,

Just to leave a lucky treat for a critter hunting beneath

Greedy nature strips it of all it has.

Peels unfold and surround air with bitter scents

As they melt into the soil, roots ache

Grasping for what’s left of their feast.

Spring bearing bad news

Forces grieve the abundance the tree once had,

Absence brings the crave for heavenly citrus

It is no longer able to be in the season of orange awe

Soon enough, you'll see white blossoms,

Fluttering as wind blows

Creating a blanket on the ground below.
