About Me
I am an egg of a person
Full of potential
But have yet to break out
Of my shell
Potential only describes what
I haven’t done
But here is what I have:
I blew on a dandelion
At 6 years old
Finally discovering
The influence they have across
the world
Their seeds travel as far as they can go
Affecting other places
Perhaps destroying
What they can’t take
Sometimes I find myself
Cherishing the smaller moments
Rather than at large events,
I remind myself of the love I receive
I travel to my second home every year
and every year I feel closer but farther from it
Perhaps it is time
To finally reconnect
With my lost culture as well.

This poem highlights my belief that I have a lot of potential. I am well aware that I am still young and have a long way to go before I reach the time of my life where I break out of the shell. Additionally, it showcases how sometimes, I struggle with identity and lose myself in an effort to become like”every other egg in the box”. All eggs are identical, but in order to be unique, you must break out of the shell.
