Heart (and Stomach!) Ache
A weird, warm ache
lives in the pit of my stomach,
burning a hole through
the wholeness of my affection,
where romance had remained.
The emotional napalm
raged and burned me out from within,
a hollow husk was the one you met today;
a watered-down, mellowed man
laced with love,
striken down by his mirror’s reflection.
Her affectionate memory,
a kindred love,
digests my tears away
which rolled down my cheek silently,
never landing
on a page.
All I hope is for my regretful sorrows,
now expelled from these tired hands,
to find residency elsewhere;
else they terminate their host,
rejecting their powers’ common application.
