Broken Glass Between Us
I never called.
The weight was too heavy,
the silence is too sharp.
Still, you text me sometimes,
as if you don’t see
the broken glass
scattered between our feet.
In my head I hear it—
you’re the bad guy,
you never reached out,
you blindsided her.
But what about me?
My emotions went numb
whenever I stood beside you.
Maybe that is how
someone becomes the villain:
not with cruelty,
but by retreating into silence.
