One in a Hundred
i’m a sheep among many,
one in a hundred,
i know nothing of wolves,
or the meaning of prey.
i’m cared for by One,
a hard staff in His hand,
but the gentlest look
on His face.
He leads me and the others
by ever-still waters,
to this day, we know not
What might drown.
His eyes, always watching,
when any of us stray,
He’ll leave all of the others
for one.
every now and again
we’ll step foot somewhere new,
but i don’t have to fear
anything.
when my Shepherd is near
i know He’ll do anything
to keep me and the others
truly safe.
and even when pain,
and sometimes great loss
come pouring in
from all sides—
i’m safe in His arms,
He’ll keep me from harm,
He says nothing will e’er
take my life.
i’m a sheep among many,
one in a hundred,
my Shepherd has always
been there.
there isn’t a need
that He doesn’t meet.
i feel safe,
for i know that He cares.
