I Am Alive, If This Is Life
you are my northstar,
guide me through the sky,
all alone, life bores me,
broken strings cannot guide the puppet.
for the moment, with lyrics, adamant, in my ears,
life makes sense,
and i can live under these false pretenses,
in the morn, i shall awake
to chaos, abundant,
i will realize, that i am in solitude,
and the nightmare will continue.
the pen, my dagger,
inscribes words of permanence on my heart.
stabbing right and true, it never fails,
to kill the part of me that hurts the most.
in this haphazard state i choose to remain,
for i know that if i stop,
my demons will return with lustful eyes,
and my soul will bleed crimson tears again
my fingers write of their own accord,
desperation kicks in at the finish.
my words surround me, hollow shield,
hidden from the world, my opaque veil.
i can survive, if you call this survival,
i will strive, if this is strife.
i will push on, if this is pushing,
i am alive, if this is life.
