Melting away behind the horizon
The sun is disappearing from view
The sky has been painted in the silkiest of blues
And clouds streak through the heavens
The firmament is set on fire
With vibrant hues of fluorescent rose, red and orange
Trees shoot up from the shire
The contrasting shades accentuate the sunset
And I listen to a whistle of an innocent hymn so rare
As I stand staring at such a glorious flair

Tracing the lines of shadows
And dreams not forgotten
Aspirations and desires fly
Fears receding and lost in my mind
Escape into the echo of silence
Secrets whispered by the wind
That no one comprehends
Whisked away like dust
With the murmurings left in the gust
I gaze into my own soul

The charm of the sky no longer lingers
Laced with sorrow from what has just passed
Yet God keeps my heart
And just as soon as the sun withdraws
Something new begins
Different but just as splendid
The curtain of night falls upon an emptied stage
Stars explode with light into the black abyss
Tears stream down my face
I am filled with infallible bliss

This has a stirring internal rhythm that forces the reader to stop and ponder, something we should all do at twighlight...beautiful poem.
