"many wish to change the world, few wish to change themselves"

We both had little pieces of matching thread
on our wrists
our own handmade friendship bracelets.

she told me that the day these came off
we wouldn't be friends anymore
so i was always extra careful
making sure mine never broke or got lost.

but then one day i saw her with someone else
they were sitting together and laughing
and looking so happy.

when i called out to her she just got up
and walked away
leaving me standing there all alone.

that night i waited and waited
hoping she would call me and
say something to make it all better again
like she usually does.

but this time she didnt call
so i went to bed with tears in my eyes
and a hole in my heart.

the next morning i woke up
and my little bracelet
was gone.

this is a poem dedicated to anyone who has lost a friend when they were young or even older. i've been there a couple of times myself. comments/critique are greatly appreciated. thank you and enjoy!

I liked this a lot ... really very interesting. It has a sort of homey, comfortable feeling to it.
