“I love you” I whisper into the night.
You walked away as if everything was alright.
Every time you’re near me, I crave your touch,
And when you’re not, I miss you so damn much.
I was afraid to tell you what I was feeling inside,
Because If you didn’t love me back,
A part of me would’ve died.
But not telling you hurt even more,
Every night I cried on the bathroom floor.
Tonight at the game I pulled you aside,
And you listened as I spilled my heart and risked my pride.
After you told me you didn’t feel the same way,
I lied and said that I would be okay.
I told you that whoever was the girl that would win your heart,
She better know how lucky she is, every single day, right from the start.
I told you that she better hold you tight and never let go,
Because you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to her,
But that’s something she should already know.
As I told you this you looked like you were about to cry,
But instead you gave me a hug and let out a sigh.
And just like that you walked away,
It was as if you just didn’t know what to say.
I feel like I’m in kindergarten once again,
playing musical chairs when the music ends.
I’m the one left standing, embarrassed and not knowing what to do.
I feel like that times a million, because of the way I loved you.
