I don't feel like being pretty today
No makeup for me
I'm putting it all away
Natural is how I'll be
No gross foundation
That hides all my beautiful flaws
I'm straying away from this nation
That thinks wearing make-up is of their laws
I don't need to line my eyes
Or shadow my lids
Without them I'm just fine
I don't need to pencil my lips
With dark, waxy, clay
That has a smudged tip
It wont even last all day
I hate the feeling of sticky gloss
Keeping my mouth closed
And making my words become lost
Into a world that no one knows

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece for many reasons. I was putting make-up on before school and thought to myself that this was such a pain. It took forever to apply and I had to make touch-ups all day long. Our culture has made it impossible to be viewed as naturally beautiful, so I've decided to rebel. Hopefully this piece will help me.
