Summer Nights
A fleeting grasp of joy, of friendship
Lies in the way the sun casts shadows of our bodies
The way our fingers entwine
and the sand melts between our toes
as we tumble and giggle in the fading light.
This moment is captured in our crazy lives
In our hearts we’ll remember
But someday we’ll have to forget.
Our lives lie ahead of us like a road never ends in a dream
Choices to make, legends to live.
And as the sun sinks over the lake filled with secrets
Flowing so wisely over the sand,
It knows-
We don’t, but it does -
that those summer nights will end.
