Red Light
She is surrounded by pain,
Her divorced parents and her unloving mother.
She drives,
drives with the music turned all the way up,
drives with the windows down.
never having any direction
Only waiting until the next turn.
Red lights don’t bother her,
here she is patient and forgiving.
Her laughter makes her forget.
and at night she is never home
escaping the words of her mother.
She grabs the keys. She grabs her life.
And drives away.
