When Heart and Mind Collide
Why are we here amidst the sins that we fear?
Why are we searching for something so near?
Who are we reaching to impress the most?
Our peers, or our teachers, or our Heavenly Host?
If you were asked to look deep within your soul,
Could you confess the secrets that you often withhold?
Do you tell the ones you hold close to your heart
How losing them would ultimately tear you apart?

Have you ever walked through the streets of suffering and failures,
To find yourself free of life’s many tortures?
Have you tried your hardest to achieve your dreams?
Or do you watch them fall to shreds, ripping at the seams?
Do you rush through the hours without glancing around?
Or do you take a second of gratitude toward what you have found?

Now, spend every moment of every hour,
Not pondering the right words you want them to devour,
 In other words,
Say them and trust that your heart won’t betray
All of those feelings your mind wasn’t willing to say.
