The first thing I remember is the pain being gone.
I had fallen asleep in a noisy room of white, surrounded by blurry faces and beeping monitors.
I awoke in a dream of black.
Looking around, I squinted in the quiet darkness.
Then I caught the dull glimmer in their lifeless eyes.
Stepping forward, their pale forms became the only light.
The dead stared back at me with cold, analyzing gazes.
“Where am I?” I asked. They did not answer.
Instead, they each held out their hand, and looking up at them, I reached for the closest grip.
I got to my feet and followed them, hand in hand, into the darkness, feeling home at last.
No more light, no more lies, no more pain, only peace.

This poem is based on The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance, my favorite album of all time. This album has inspired me more than anything in my life and so I decided to dedicate a poem to it.
