What's the Cost
What’s the Cost?
This story is about Kate,
And her story is full of hate.
She wore different clothes
And made many foes.
She just wanted a friend
But her character started to descend.
Walking the halls alone,
Just staring at her phone.
There’s no response
All she hears are other’s taunts.
Her clothes begin to mock her
As the rumors begin to stir
Trying to block them out
She begins to doubt
Rumors taunts and teases
Start tearing her to pieces
She can’t start to change,
She’s filling up in rage.
The teases are stuck inside her head
Her individuality is dead.
She’s looking like them
She’s no longer a gem.
Kate gave in
And she didn’t win.
Her individuality is lost,
But what was the cost?
Blending with her peers
She became what she feared
Now her clothes look the same,
It’s no longer a game
She didn’t endure
She thought she cured
But she did not,
She got caught
She stands out no longer
She looks out yonder
To the memory of the way she looked
Before she got hooked.
Kate’s individuality is lost…
So what was the cost?
