She sat on the floor
Of the empty, bare room
With her knees pulled against her chest...

Listening to her heartbeat echo off the walls
Watching the barricades drain her feelings and color the wall with it

Deep in her chest
She felt the sobs--that failed to escape her lips--build up under the cage of her ribs...

The force of the pain
Sent her breaths through jagged, uneven lines
And gave her the yearning to weep, to release.

Her eyes, wet, turned to the bright light--that shone through her naked window--In despair, for hope.

She wanted to cry
To let go of all the stresses that put burdens in her life
But...

Couldn't weep for burdens so unreasonable
So irrational
With no poignancy
With no sense
But...

She needed to cleanse her soul
Remove her agony
Free hidden emotions
Clear her mind

Yet the cries would not come
Because she was once told
"Only weep if it is time"

But relief was needed in all the chambers of her body...

Listening to her heartbeat echo off the walls in a different rhythm...
She felt the emotions regurgitate in her throat [as vomit had when illness was present]

The sobs that failed to escape-
Hushed violently from her lips
And echoed off the walls with fierce reverberation.
