"From them spilt both fire and ice, both violent hate and passionate love, and ugly, vile, fervid rage."

I don’t know what this is
I’m confused by the words that you said
I am all that there ever was and is
My kingdom and men lay shattered and dead

You walked into the dead of night
Like light and phantoms, cold and dread
There were no chains, no plight
And when dawn rose, the sky was red

Love doesn’t go out of fashion
but it’s broken down, crumbling
Like the cooling coals of a raging passion
For words and goodbyes, we are now fumbling

You were always so vague and unclear
Thinking of things to make me smile
These thoughts I cannot hear
Tired and listless, never the full mile

All I deserve is not what I got
Just a drifting boat lost to a greater sea
Like sailors and waves, we always fought
‘Til, capsized, you drowned me.

They told me to know your enemy
But I never listened, eyes cast in sun
Now there’s nothing left of me
I want to follow, but have no strength to run.

I’ve got my red sky and rubble
But I never really had you
You were a problem, foolish trouble
Use to confuse everything I knew

But what did I ever really know?
From the dark, when you came back to me
I told you I would never go
Told you and your memory to let me be

Back into dark alleys you slink
And never again would we have to part
Because I’ve looked away from the sun to blink
To piece together my broken heart.
