that honeysuckle smile
i stand
on your front step
my hands woven together
behind my back,
my eyes shut
as i consider
the consequences
and possible outcomes.
will you feel the same?
will you say
the three words
that would send my heart
fluttering with joy?
i breathe
deeply, putting all my
courage on my tongue,
and fastening my soul
with it.
i am ready to confess.
ready to tell you that
i love you.
i knock
on your door
with a trembling fist.
it swings
and there you stand
with your honeysuckle smile
and those dimples
that kill me everytime.
you stare
with those eyes
i could get lost in.
i can't -
my tongue is tied.
i flush,
and my cheeks heat up.
i retreat,
and run home,
away from you.
so you see,
i would
have confessed.
told you that
i love you.
but i couldn't.
all thanks to
your honeysuckle smile
and those dimples that
kill me everytime.

You say you don't remember,
But I will never forget
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS POEM! So many teens can relate to this! And as EleanorRigby said, a lot of teens write about this... But here's what Angel has to say:
This poem was amazing. Nice wordplay, I loved the honeysuckle smile part! Keep writing! :D
