The Music’s Playing in the Back
The music’s playing in the back.
Fast music, try to stay on track.
We’re all fighting,
And against every problem, we are struggling.
The music’s playing in the back,
While lonely girl is crying,
Because no matter how hard she keeps trying,
Pretty boy just wants to play.
The music’s playing in the back,
While mom and dad keep fighting,
Because they have no money
And how are we going to send her to college, honey?
The music’s playing in the back,
And mom is not working
Because she wants to go shopping with her friends,
While the kids are studying.
The music’s playing in the back,
And pretty boy is crying,
Because mom and dad keep fighting,
And he has to stay there studying.
The music’s playing in the back,
While dad goes out drinking.
With his buddies, he is hanging,
And he just won’t stop smiling.
The music’s playing in the back,
While the teachers keep on teaching,
And the children keep on learning.
But, can they tell they’re barely breathing?
The music’s playing in the back,
While kids are tired of reading,
Because mom and dad keep fighting,
And concentrating isn’t easy.
The music’s playing in the back,
While families are broken apart,
Because teachers want to teach,
And kids just won’t read,
And mom just wants to shop,
And girls just want a boy,
And boys just want to sleep.
