Old Gaslight
I sat on the rotten and decaying corner,
Under the old rusty gaslight.
The place where you and I met
And the place where we would go,
To get away from it all,
But it really isn’t the same without you now.
The cement once has grass
Growing between the cracks,
One day I remember you and I
Planted flowers in the gutter
Just trying to make our escape look better.
But now, after you left,
The grass doesn’t grow
And the flowers have turned to weeds.
The sun used to shine forever
Every time we’d come here and talk
But now it’s always overcast
Melancholy clouds holding tears
So I sit here under this gaslight,
Lonely and cold and heartbroken
Wishing you never left me
I miss those flowers
I miss those strands of spastic grass
I miss those warm and sunny days
I miss when we would meet up
Spend hours together
And forget the world
I miss you.
And now my only memory left,
Is this old gaslight.
