"I can sum up everything I've learned about life in three words; it goes on." -Robert Frost

she sits three feet away
in the driver's seat,
smoking a cigirrete,
blasting the radio,
wind in her hair.
she's going nintey down the highway,
flashing by the
60's,
70's,
80's,
90's,
its a time warp in her head.

she has flashbacks
of childhood-
she never really had one.
of college-
a girl who wanted to travel the world.
of love-
does it even exsist any more?

what happened to the ambitious writer
who saw the world as it is,
not as they make you see it?
what happened to the life
that filled that empty hole of a heart?
one two many miscarrages?
one too many memories?
one too many years that flew by?

when did you start not to care?
after your husband left you?
or was it after you got fired from work?
when did you start to let time consume
your life away,
as you hide in your room and cryed.
when will you open your eyes....?

i sit in the passinger seat,
unnoticed.
i wave my hand in her face,
but her eyes are drowning in another memory.
this is the person that i come home to everyday.
this is the girl-
who used to be so compassionate-
that over time just faded away.
now only parent i remember
is the ones in my scrapbook.

Mom,
when did i become invisible to you?
