I know you’re deaf to me,
but it’s time to listen to me speak.
How many times
have I looked you in the eye
and have seen nothing-
a void?
Like you're looking through me,
wishing that I could be what you want me to be.
There's a certain emptiness that I sense
in this feeling I call love,
like I'm pretending to be something I'm not
like I'm uncertain of what to say
what to do-
cause I feel so hollow
when I'm near you.
Although you say you're with me,
I've never felt so alone,
destitute-
have you ever really been by my side,
or is this whole thing a charade,
one magnificent lie?
When we see ourselves through
each other's eyes,
it's like seeing ourselves for the very first time.
I've never wanted the lies,
being blinded by deceit,
I've only just really wanted
to be me.

I wrote this about people not being able to see past my flaws, and wishing that I could be what they want me to be.
