Dreams...
Why can't life be like our dreams?
Why can't we fly
High in the sky?
Why is life never as it seems?
Music...
Why can't life be filled with music?
Children have songs
To replace all the wrongs
But, somewhere along the line, they lose it
The cardinal,
Perched on the sill
Flies away
Trying to reveal
The hidden side
Of life's appeal
He invites me along
To get a feel
Of the world he lives in,
A world unreal
Freedom...
Why can't the cardinal share his freedom?
Why are we bound
By our tears to the ground?
By our sins and unable to leave them?
The cardinal,
My friend
Flies 'til the end
Flies into the sky
To return home again
Pain...
Why can't life be without pain?
Why does God make
All hearts to break?
Why are we forced to smile in vain?
I follow the cardinal
To his home in the sky
I look down at the earth
From a world on high
I take a deep breath
I close both my eyes
If the cardinal can fly,
Can I?
