Baby-Sitting, Afterdark
The kids
 Are asleep.
 Now,
 Its time
 For me to
 RELAX.
 I cuddle-
 With a book.
 “Crack”
 What was that?
 Startled.
 But back to the book.
 Again!
 Noises…
 Louder,
 Closer.
 The dog?
 No dog…
 No pets…
 The kids?
 Still asleep.
 Back to the book.
 More noises,
 They cause me to jump.
 Oh what,
 Could it be?
 It’s only,
 Me and the kids.
 Oh,
 When,
 Will the parents
 Be home?
 Then,
 I won’t
 Have to worry,
 About the noises,
 As much.
