Goodbye
I figured you were right,
We don’t need to live this lie
The pain is not unpainful.
It doesn’t hurt me
But numbs me
Miles from where you are
I try to memorize your face
Until exhausted, I close it all off
It’s the last place of redemption
But we lost that too in the fire
I lie down and pray for our souls
And dream, dreams that seem to far for my reach
Goodbye
I’ll do it all
And pretend you’re here with me
As I watch the yesterdays
Die off one by one
A death full of regrets
I’ll turn from you
As you’ll do the same
And I’ll run up that hill
As you run away from it
Goodbye
