"Of course you are...I understand perfectly [that you're in love with me], because I'm in love with myself. The fact that I'm not transfixed in front of the nearest mirror takes a great deal of self-control." -Lestat de Lioncourt

When I close my eyes what I usually see,
Is the sunshine on a scale.
When in peace I lay, the world empty but me,
I see a powerful, reptilian tail.

When acute silence in my ears keens,
I see a great jewel-like eye.
When unconsciousness makes my mind free,
I see a fire light up the sky.

When over world soft darkness creeps,
I see immense wings,
When I sleep I dream dragon dreams,
I hope the dragons dream of me.

This poem was greatly inspired by the song Dragon Dreams by vocalist/harpist, Pamela Bruner.
