Too Much?

I walked through the door.
I watched everyone laugh and joke with their friends.
I was the girl no one looked at or cared about.
I hadn’t had any friends since grade school.
I was a loner.
Well, sort of.
I wanted company sometimes.
I wanted a boy to look at me and tell me I was beautiful.
I wanted someone to ask me if I was ok when I wanted to cry.
I wanted too much.
Or did I?
I walked into homeroom, sat down and noticed my crush, staring at my wrist.
I glanced at it and pulled my sleeve down.
I heard thunder roll in the distance and stared
out the window.
I heard the bell ring and the teacher go over the new chapter.
I never really paid attention in class , I didn’t see a point in it.
I couldn’t afford college.
No chance of getting a scholarship.
No chance of having the life I longed for.
