Daughter of the Moon
Your bright eyes
 two beacons in the dark
 reflect the moon’s pale glow
 intense and haunting.

 You move with silent strength
 through the dark realm
 of the forest
 cloaked in night
 and searching
the deep corridors of your heart.

 Yet you are
the rippling laughter of the brook
the playful wind that tousles grass
the sudden flurry of falling leaves
 the beauty of the storm
 whose tears beckon new life.

 Adventuresome and free
 you soar as air
flowing to unseen eddies and currents
 clear to just your heart.

A child of the night’s still forest
 you search
 for acceptance, truth, and beauty
from those you call your kin
and from your deep and hidden heart.

 Crying to the silent moon
 small beneath its shadow
 let no one disturb
the silent beauty of your heart,

 the beacon that’s
 your heart.
