The Prisoner
My life was ticking away as a sat behind the bars of my prison cell.
I never gave much thought about what I did…. the robbery…the blood.
Out of the bloom, I was asked to join the hospice program.
I figured I had time to kill, so I joined.
So I’ll be helping this random inmate.
I guess it’s better than just sitting here doing nothing.
As I entered the room I saw him. He was dying before my very eyes.
I held his hand for the last time and… he died.
I broke into tears.
Memories flooded in my mind.
I remember the robbery.
I remember how I beat a man to death.
I thought to myself, “Wow, who the hell are you? Who were you to do this to somebody else.”
