Suspense
The battle of life has begun
The voice of defeat singing softly in my ringing ears
I hide the look of devastation off my painted face
With my head held high I march through the mocking crowd
I keep the look of apathy glued to my face
no one guesses my secrets
no one knows my ways
I take my stand: nameless to the overwhelming crowd
I wait for the screams
I wait for the accusations
I wait for anyone to break the silence
but I look back into the eyes of the faceless mob
suspense strikes through awaiting my sentence
and then they laugh:
the silence is shattered
I couldn't feel smaller,
dumber,
more of a fool.
that's just life
and it starts now.
