Flashlight Night
Walking through
 Overgrown green foliage
 Down the gravel path
 In mid night

 Dodging trees
 With tires and Driftwood
 Glancing at broken bikes
 Begging me to fix them
 Rondo laying
 On the wooden palette

 The yellow beam
 Shines over everything
Rondo, coons, and so much more

 I’m filled with sounds
Of Rondo trotting and Pooch yowling
Thoughts like, “Where’d the light go?”
 Bombarde me
 From all around

 I feel
 Calm, yet nervous
 Dull, yet eccentric
 Relaxed, yet tense
 Safe, yet in danger
Only two words can describe this

 Flashlight night
