Tonight,

The line of men walk the streets,

Under the moonless sky.

We miss those long past the sky rockets,

And into the mysterious black holes.

They travel to what we can never see,

Must never feel.

The untouched eyes of the town's daughter,

And she, the soldier's gem.

Forbidden words fill the air,

Which thicken it to unhealthy visits.

And missed roses on the girl's front step.

Notes of how they can't be,

Her father won't allow it.

How it breaks her heart,

And how she must say goodbye.

And we miss those long past the sky rockets,

Into the mysterious black holes,

Those that can never come back to us,

All love is gone.

And what we can work with...

Are secret meetings under the city lamps.

And under God's blessing,

Just don't abandon.

Making love under the rockets,

Which are ready to depart from the world.

And hope is tonight's astronaut.

The soldier is tied to the deepest post,

And his fellow men ready their rifles.

The girl entreats her dad to stop the madness,

But rifles are shot by tearful men,

And the girls other half is gone,

She cries under the moonless sky,

As hope is sent to darkness,

And she rubs her pregnant stomach.
