Just One Soidler
The guns are firing
Them men are yelling to one another
 Bodies drop to the ground
I don’t know where to look
 Or where to turn
Then I feel a sharp pain in my arm
I look down to see blood
I try to run but I get nowhere
 Then I hear pounding
 Hoof beats to be precise
General Washing rides up to me
He reaches down for my hand
I look into the great mans eyes
Why would he risk his life to save mine
 There are hundreds of others
“Why me?” is all I could think
As I reach up to take his hand
And he lifts me unto his horse
He looks me in the eye and says
“I did it for you, because you did it for me.”
