This for me
This for you
This for every girl that ever knew

A never ending struggle
That sinks low, but wont subside
Every day a man holds his fist high
And a woman starts to cry

The girls who starve
Themselves that is
Of everything that’s worth to live
The woman race
A special one
We’ll rise again
But first we must fall

I am young, and prime
Ive seen these stories only from others eyes
The media has a special way
Of attacking it
Only to allow it to stay
So I know its there
I know it well
What I’m about to tell you
Is only the outer shell

This is for her
That girl who looks in the mirror but cant sit still
The looking glass has told her wrong
It is now that she begins to fall
A fall that runs deep and hard
And compensates with bathroom stalls
And empty stomachs
And magazines
The most horrid things
I’ve ever seen

This girl
She will tell you just one more pound
But when that day comes around
She will repeat herself
A spiral down
Down hill
Down slope
Flushing away every hope
Of futures bright
That dare to sparkle
What her eventual death wish
Will do to her father
To her mother
to her sister
To the world
A permanent blister

This is for her
The woman who rushes home from the store
Honking and beeping
Her world in a slur
Her husband called her moments ago
Threatened his fists if she didn’t hury home
So here she is planning survival maps in her brain
She cant tolerate anymore pain
Chicken in the oven
Corn on the stove
She forgot the gravy
Her body turns cold

When she gets home
She feeds the kids
Kisses their cheeks
And sends them to bed
Praying as she sets the table
The man will not realize
This meal is unstable

Of course a moment only has passed
As his bold drunken slurs
Rush past her head
His favorite gravy
Why did she forget
Now she will have to endure a few hits

Her children tiny and small
Hold pillows briskly to their ears
So they cannot hear her fall
Falling and moaning
And screaming her weeps
They wonder how the whole neighborhood sleeps

This woman
This mom, and this daughter
Is going to forget the biscuits tomorrow
Gone she will go
Leaving her babies behind
Her once sweet lover
Taking her life
Without saying goodbye

This if for her
Her who weeps
Because her husband has been gone for weeks
A solider
A fighter
A patriot
She puts the kids to sleep and stays up late
Thinking of him
Staring in to photographic cold eyes
Wishing to god those baby blues were still alive

Not alive?
Yes it is true
She received the news today at two
A friend, a mother, a brother, a friend
No ones by her side
She hasn’t said
A word
A cry
Their children don’t even know
Her lips have been pasted cold
The funeral will be next Tuesday
The exact same day
he was reported to be coming home too see her

This for her
For you
And for me
For every man who’s made you weep
For the society who tells you to starve
For the joys in life you sometimes leave behind
Stay strong
Rise from the ashes
Strut your heels, and flash those long lashes
You are you
You are me
You are everything you want too be
So be it
Be it well
Let no one stop you
Or this world will haunt you
We are beautiful
Stunning, resilient
But mostly beautiful
Remarkably beautiful
