As I Lay Waiting
As I lay waiting
 standing in the rain
 for this green eyed girl
that brought me so much pain
 I look towards the sea
 towards the horizon
 looking for some sign
 of love that was lost
 love that was lost
 in the sea of hatred
 in the sea of death
 no sweet melodies
 come to me anymore
 as I wait
 on this distant shore
 so far away
 from everyone else
 so far away
 so far away

 As I lay waiting
 under this dead shower tree
 atop the deep green grass
 I lay in wait
 for my love to come
 but time has past
 and no one has come
to relieve me of my wait
 for this green eyed girl
 that showed me to love
 that showed me to hate
 that showed me everything
 except for what fate
 had in store
 for all of us

 As I lay crying
 beneath this golden shower tree
 the rain is pounding
on my heart and on me
my soul is ripped in two
 the same with my heart
 my lost love
 my lost inspiration
 lay beneath this tree
 to teach me a lesson

 As I look out
 to a new horizon
 without my love
 without my inspiration
 I wander aimlessly
 until I am lost
 I find my new self
in this city beneath the waves
 I find my new self
 my dead inspiration
 my dead love
 beneath blue skies
beneath waves where water turns black
I find what I've been waiting for
 I find her once more

As I lay no longer waiting
 I look towards life
 with greater understanding
 I learned from my trip
and I soaked it all in
here in this city beneath the waves
I come to wonder where life begins
and I come to hope that it never ends
