Hurricane
A pilot in a helicopter
Throws down a rope ladder for you
You climb up
The hail
Pummels my body
It bludgeons my face,
Tears into my skin
(Hail Mary full of grace
Take me away from this dangerous place)
The hail is relentless
I cannot run against the wind;
Its will is too strong.
I am not rescued.
The sands stretch out for miles
The coastline is defenseless
As the newest attacker
Ravages it.
The weight of my body holds me back
I fall to the ground
I am defeated by the wrath of nature
No pleas to God can save me now
(Our Father, who art in heaven
Save me from the sins I drown in)
This is surrender
