There is a Room for Every Hour—
In which every person
Encounters Time.
Time is not a kindly being,
It does not have mercy on those
Who are late,
There is no reward for being early,
And if you come within its presence
Just on time—you will be given
Your graces
And Time will listen to you complain
Over how there is not enough of It
And Time will look at you directly
To tell you that you are wasting Its time
And every room with every passing hour
Will remind you that you are running out of time.
Every room is like a bitter reminder
Of all the hours you have lost.
