Little ones
Sun beating down
Wind breathing coldness into me
Running through the grass in church clothes
Such a warm spring day
Smiles taste so sweetly
Blood dripping from bare feet
Trouble waits for me when I walk through the door
So I’ll stay outside
Surrounded by the people whom I love
Who I have claimed as my family
I hold them in my heart
Smiling and laughing
All of us together
This, moments like these
Will be the ones we remember
The ones we look back on
The best moments that I can fathom
When us ‘big kids’ act like little ones.
