Remembering
A sunny day,
An excited heart
The wind is perfection
As he pulls up in the car
I never thought we would even get that far
Running away from eight year old kids
I knew I'd always remember it
You smiled at me, and I pretended, too
Your words are all lies as the skies are blue
That movie theater was a dream
A taste that was sweet
But you didn't get all you wanted
So that could've been the last time we were to meet
All the mornings were clear
And you weren't a dream
For once, you were near
I knew it wouldn't last
I just sucked the life from it before it could pass
It was perfect
Though we aren't
And it was a way to pass the time
And you can call me a criminal, too
I don't care now, it's over
And I'm off the roller coaster
But thank you for pretending with me, for all that it was
Because I look back now,
Knowing there was no love
Just smiles, lies
And staring at the sky
Good times to my mind
And to you...it's still a mystery to me
