I am a yellow tether ball.
Barely used, yet as-is.
There was a time, before you,
when i was bright.
Mint condition.
Then there was you.
You came around and i was hooked.
Tied to a post by a beautifully strong rope
with no intention or desire
of being taken down.
You promised to be good to me;
that i would forever be your favorite.
Look at how you left me:
A dull, scuffed up, yellow tetherball.
At you last glance, I rested with anguish
against that post,
dangling by that same rope, now tattered and torn.
You just walked away.
Then a wonderful breeze,
so warm and inviting, blew my way.
It whispered to me
promises.
To treasure me
as good as new.
That sweet wind
picked me up and
dusted me off.
My rope
rewoven and stronger than ever.
That summer breeze,
recreated the old me.
And. Now.
I sway back and fourth
beautifully in the wind.
