I lie in my room.
Silent.
Listening for footsteps creaking
their selves up the stairs.
When im sure everyone is
asleep then I allow myself to be free.
I let the tears slide down my pale face.
Leaving their tracks on my cheeks.
I don’t hold back my sobs or cries.
I let them escape in the middle of the night.
For this is when I can cry.
This is when my scream can escape.
This is when I can be me without anyones
judgement.
This is when I can reveal who I am.
But you will never see this side of me.
You will never know that each night
my lullaby is the sobs rocking through my body.
You will never know of this depression that runs
freely through my viens.
You will never know the real me.
