But my world is falling apart.
You say be devoted to one another in brotherly love,
Yet people get murdered everyday.
You say be kind and compassionate,
But I cut others down with my words daily.

You say do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth,
Yet I speak derogatory words often without thinking twice about it.
You say honor one another above yourselves,
But I am too self-centered to even think about another human being.
You say to live at peace with everyone,
Yet wars strike up between countries far too often.

You say love your neighbor as yourself,
But I have no idea who my neighbors are.
You say to stop passing judgment on one another,
Yet judgmental thoughts cross my head every other second.
You say do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world,
But the devil tries to grab me every chance he gets.

My world is falling apart, people are dying.
People get cut down, curse words are spoken.
Others are self-centered, wars are breaking out.
Who is my neighbor? They might be too uptight for me.
The devil is trying to get me; I am trying to be in your light.
And now I am afraid. I am afraid of this world. Now I have to trust.
