Phone Call
onto the street her teardrops fall
all she wanted was for him to call,
reassuring her that he was okay
because he wasn't there that day,
the bend of the road was slick and wet,
the news she knew, she'd never forget
she prayed for him day and night
not out of pain instead of fright
if only someone would have called,
she wouldn't be standing next to the grave,
grieving to the stone, "i'm sorry it ended this way."
