The Starry Night
I wait impatiently until the hours of darkness
The summer night is warm and its breeze caresses my face
I am able to escape into the night
I’m safe in my own backyard
The dry grass makes as a temporary pallet
Its soft bristly touch merely makes me more comfortable as I look into the sky
The encompassing darkness overwhelms me
Blackness extends forever in front of me
Dappled with silver kisses that sparkle like diamond rings
A kiss is dropped to Earth and it trails to the peripherals of my vision
The crickets sing me a lullaby and the creatures of the night do not frighten me
No, we are all part of the same vast universe, and coexist in peace
My friends of darkness are just like me
We spend the night in the arms of nature
Trying to count the many blessings in the sky
And fall asleep to the soft lullaby of a peaceful night
