A Voice for the Voiceless
A Voice for the Voiceless
Atop your chilling fur
Sit chalk white scars
To think about this tragedy I cannot defer
The smell of crimson blood
Is overwhelming
The ocean of my eyes has begun to flood
Cement covered in crisp leaves
Hard as a blackboard
If only the criminal had the heart to grieve
Behind your eyes of glass
I view your heart
That can only be cured with an amount of love that is mass.
I’m determined to prevent and protect
So no poor heart
Can ever experience this neglect
I’ve devoted my life
To move you away
From this beaten down place you’ve had to stay.
You’re a rose with torn petals
But I’ll be there to help
I’ll find a home where you can finally settle.
We do all that we can do
For the many cases like this
These indeed are God’s creatures too
You’ve got so much love and devotion to give
And every life deserves to live
But those who take them
We will never forgive
I wish to help those with dismay
No not only the stray
But also the ones that are locked away
They cannot speak a word
Despite how much they suffer
Their deaths go unheard
They’re cut up on plates
Can’t you see its you
Who must save them from this fate?
They aren’t pairs of shoes
They weren’t born for leather
So please don’t just do with them what you choose
They’re tied up by a chain
They’re beaten and whipped
They’re even sold for a mere financial gain
Most were born alive and free
Now horrific experiments
Some born with no eyes to see
Oh how you look so disheveled
The damn man who did this
I can only imagine is the devil
They will once again feel the warmth of family ties
Despite there unfortunate past
Our hard work will be recognized
Some possessed a warrior’s soul
But for some of those
Time acted on the paws of a troll
They will never be forgotten
That’s only because
Humans and animals share a special bond
We’re so alike
Together, our hearts extend to the beyond
We can heal them with love and care
Trust me on this
We will show them that we’ll always be there
Each life like a flightless bird
A winged unspoken word
But with my voice, they will be heard.
