Be yourself, and do what you want, because those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter.

1.
I run through the grass.
I am fast and free.
No one can stop me.
I don’t care how fast I run
As long as I run.
I run like the wind.
No one can stop me.

2.
I run through the grass.
A leg shoots out, trips me.
I run through the pain.
But I run a bit slower.
Why did that happen?

It isn’t my fault.
Still, no one can stop me.

3.
I run through the grass.
A leg shoots out, trips me.
I run through the pain, but
Now I run much slower.
Almost walking.
I barely run.
Why did that happen?
Maybe someone can stop me.

4.
I run through the grass.
A leg shoots out, trips me.
I stop running.

5.
I run through the grass, faster than before.
A leg shoots out, trips me.
I run even faster.
No one can stop me.

The author's comments:
This poem is a metaphor for singing. When I was a little kid, I sang however I wanted to, not knowing about notes, tone or pitch. Then in second grade, in a school choir,a "friend" explained them to me and said that I should not sing if I did not know how to. Throughout the years, two other people (both adults I liked and trusted) said the same thing. There words made a big impact of me. Now, I am singing again, quietly, but singing.

This poem is beautiful and teaches a valuable lesson. Honestly, I know what it's like to be unable to sing in the pitch socially accepted, but I sing anyway because I enjoy it! :)
