A broken promise and a fading heart
One day he promised me…
“Our love is permanent”
as he drew a heart on my hand with the black marker.
Months later his eyes turned dark with resentment for me,
like the sky in middle spring just before the storm hits.
One day it rained and he was gone.
And like the heart drawn in “permanent” ink on my pale hand,
Our love quickly faded away with the rain
